Corkey Heiskell is the developer and owner of Rabbit Run Builders. The construction company Heiskell Construction was changed in 1998 when the country Development of Rabbit Run was started. Corkey's parents both came to Choctaw in 1912 and her mother was the first to graduate from Choctaw and returned to teach in the Choctaw Public Schools. Corkey's grandfather built homes in Choctaw, and her father built homes in Nicoma Park and Choctaw. Corkey says, "It's in my blood." Her interests and hobbies range from riding her Harley, to fishing, writing, drawing, painting, flying kites, traveling, music, and working with photography and film. She loves working with people and designing homes to fit their every day life. Corkey believes home builders should spend time with their customers to design the home to the homeowners needs and expressions. Corkey sometimes draws the home out on the ground and ask her clients to walk through with her. Some laugh in the beginning of the tour until they realize she can help them visualize the whole concept of their home there on the ground. She has the artistic ability to bring the picture together in vivid color. Corkey's mentor was the late Dorothy Johnston/Wise, Dorothy's mentor was no other, than the great Frank Lloyd Wright. As many of us know Frank Lloyd Wright was a famous architect with a philosophy now known as organic architecture. Meaning human habitation and nature are unified and appear to flow together in a natural habitat. Corkey's developments reflect this concept and are integrated into the country side. |
